Our rights

When you create an original artistic or literary work, such as a painting, sculpture, a poem, a film, a song or a limited art edition, it is protected by copyright .

Nobody but you has the right to disseminate or reproduce your work.

In EU countries, copyright protects your intellectual property for 70 years after the death of the creator, or 70 years after the death of the last surviving author in the case of co-authorship of a work.

Outside the EU, in any country that has signed the Berne Convention, the duration of copyright protection may vary, but is at least 50 years after the death of the author.

Copyright protection gives you the following exclusive rights:
- economic rights - control over both their work and the remuneration derived from its use through sale or licensing moral rights - the right to claim authorship (right of attribution) and to refuse to alter the work (right of integrity)

How to obtain copyright protection.

If you are the author of artistic or literary works , you automatically benefit from copyright protection as soon as you create the work without having to take any formal steps.

However, you may have to inform others that you are the author of the work in question.

To do this, you can attach a "Certificate of Authenticity" or "Copyright Statement" to your work, such as the words "All Rights Reserved" or the © symbol, along with the year the work was created.

It is also necessary to know and be clear that every work sold keeps those rights and the buyer cannot use the image or text without the author's authorisation, unless the copyright is sold or written authorisation is given for its use.

Certificate of Authenticity

A Certificate of Authenticity (COA) accompanies every work of art and guarantees the authenticity of the piece for as long as you own it.

This original document protects the security and genuineness of your purchase and provides detailed information about your artwork. Following the requirements, the Certificate of Authenticity fully and accurately describes the artwork, including but not limited to the title, artist, date, media, edition, signature, dimensions and catalogue ledger references. The Certificate of Authenticity contains only factual information that can be verified by external sources, further attesting to its value and validity as a guarantee of authenticity.

Our certificates are always signed by the artist Luís Soares.
